Yeah, I said it!

I hate my human rights group. I hate that they don't listen to my ideas. I hate being treated like I'm invisible. I hate getting sick. I hate not having enough time in the day to finish everything I need to get done. I hate that Phantom is an hour away. I hated that production of Cabaret I saw last week. I hate group meeting for projects I don't want to do. I hate when people use the bible to support hatred. I hate prejudice, racist and homophobic posts. I hate that people justify their hatred by trying to soften it with "don't like". I hate that people back them up.

Yeah, I'm throwing around the H word and if "I don't like Jews" are just words to disregard, then why give the word "hate" so much power and get so upset over it?

Hate sucks, though, doesn't it? It always makes me feel icky when I hate something or someone. It's not a very pretty emotion.

Hate to me invokes feelings of bitterness, revenge, violence, and unforgiveness. Dislike? Is generally something that I am able to get over or at least, pushing aside because it's not worth my time. Sorry that you feel this way, though. Both feelings really do suck.

dharma and NickyG, I'm with you gals. There is a difference between love and like. There is a difference between dislike and hate. You can feel dislike without feeling hate or malice. Maybe that is too subtle for you but it is pretty blatant to me. Also, for the record, I don't share JeremyG's feelings but I do see a difference between him saying he doesn't like a group as opposed to him hating them.

I see the difference between hate and not liking, but I don't see how one can be justified while the other can't be. After all, what's wrong with hating a group that's all right with not liking one?

Without Hating you cant really appreciate Love...

I dont care what you hate... but you have to hate something. Its funny how the two certainly aren't mutually exclusive.

I make sense to me, but i fear i may have lost the masses with that non-sensical rambling.

BAM!!!

I agree with your article Urban Faery. "Don't like" does seem like a soft way of saying hate to me. If JeremyG really wasn't prejudiced, he wouldn't be saying that he "dislikes" certain groups of people.

Exactly! I really enjoyed your post about JeremyG. I found it strange that since I took a bit of a different satirical approach to dealing with how upset his post made me, I barely got any comments, yet all kinds of people ended up attacking you.

Well I am a well known and hated person on Wincustomize.com and the Stardock IRC chat rooms. Also, my satirical style might have been daring, or it could be I'm being singled out for attack because I am the infamous Tech Cat. I have even heard one theory that my article is really an anti-semitic article disguised as satire. How ridiculous is that? My article's clear intention was to make fun of JeremyG for his possible anti-semitism and was a way of dealing with my anger over what JeremyG said.
