being a nuisance again...
I'm taking a well deserved break from Spanish, as I've been at it for two and a half hours. It is break time. Today was sunny. And the sun lasted until after five thirty. And this made me more chipper than I had expected. It's like the magical sunshine spring teaser was what I needed to make it through the day smiling. Today in terms of classes it was a phoning-it-in kind of day as I just watched presentations. Otherwise I've been Spanishing it up old school, which is very necessary.
I saw two very pretty things today. Both of with made me wish I had a video camera on hand. The first (which actually appeared on Johnston Green yesterday) was a huge cluster of hundreds of those small shiny pinwheels placed in the middle of the snowy field. They are there along with two signs about sexual assault statistics (it's promoting awarenes about sexual assault in Canada). But the whole bunch of them are just so beautiful! Especially with the wind and the sunshine they just spin and sparkle. There was a little girl with her father walking through them and it was just so happy and innocent. I'd love to walk through a garden of knee high pinwheels.
The second was something that I witnessed while all the others around me were absorbed in conversation. I saw a three or four foot long bunch of icicles (and probably three feet wide at the top) fall off of the roof of a building. Against a blue sky backdrop the icicle broke free and did a slow motion fall to the melting snow below. It was beautiful, and unreal, and I was the only one who saw it.
I suppose the moral is that, time alone to be an observer allows you to realize the beauty all around you. And random acts of sparkliness go a long way.
